Quick answer: this free colour blindness test shows 11 to 17 random dot plates (easy, medium and hard) that check red-green (protan and deutan) and blue-yellow (tritan) vision. It then tells you clearly which Pakistani government jobs you are eligible for, which are limited, and which are closed to you.
How to answer
- Type the number you see in each circle of dots.
- Answer quickly, within 3–5 seconds, and do not strain to guess.
- If you see no number, press “I can’t see a number”. That is a valid answer.
How the test works
Every time you start, the tool builds a new set of plates: different numbers, different colours, a different order and a different number of plates. The colours are not fixed. They are generated with colour-vision science: for each plate the tool picks a number colour and a background colour that look clearly different to normal colour vision, but nearly identical to someone with the type of deficiency being tested.
| Plate type | Who can read it | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Control (2 plates) | Everyone, including colour-blind people | Confirms the test is being read correctly. |
| Red-green: easy, medium, hard | Normal colour vision only | Detects red-green deficiency and grades its severity. |
| Classification (2–3 plates) | Normal vision sees both digits; red-weak and green-weak people see only one | Estimates protan (red-weak) or deutan (green-weak). |
| Blue-yellow (2–3 plates) | Normal vision and red-green colour-blind people | Screens for tritan deficiency, which is rare. |
The plates are original and are not copies of the Ishihara book, so results can differ slightly from a hospital test.
Frequently asked questions
Can a colour-blind person join the Army, Navy, PAF or Police in Pakistan?
No. Armed forces, police, aviation, railway driving and signalling, and other uniformed or safety-critical posts require normal colour vision, so a candidate who fails the medical colour test is rejected.
Which government jobs can a colour-blind person get?
Administrative and civil service posts (other than police), teaching, banking, accounts, audit, IT, law and clerical jobs generally have no colour-vision requirement.
Why are the plates different every time?
The tool generates new plates on every attempt so that candidates cannot memorise answers. Each run uses 11 to 17 plates.
Is this test accurate?
It is a good first screen, but only a clinical Ishihara or Farnsworth D-15 test at a hospital is official. The protan/deutan estimate is only indicative.
Is colour blindness curable?
Inherited colour blindness has no cure. Filter lenses may help daily life but are not accepted in official medical tests.
Is my data stored?
No. The test runs in your browser and nothing is sent to any server.
